ALLONA INTERNATIONAL

A - TECH

Created in April 1989, A-Tech results from the joint experiments of Mr. Grünenwaldt (50 years of experience and first office of study in Belgium, ERVA, in 1949), and of Mr Clairbois (20 years experience), in the fields of acoustics and vibration. Not less than four continents have appreciated our services.

As specialists in acoustics, we intervene in two great areas, namely the building sector (offices, residences and concert halls) and the environment sector (rail, road, airports, leisure facilities and industrial sites).

In the building area we are service provider for property developers, architects, contractors and manufacturers of building materials. We intervene at various levels and stages in real estate projects: response to contest, drafting of specifications, controls of subcontractors offers, technical consultancy concerning the design of materials, follow-up of building sites, acceptance of work and expertise (on existing buildings, in the event of litigation or project of transformation).

To a lesser extent, we also assist public authorities in defining environmental policies.

VOICE INSIGHT

In 1999 the founders of the Belgian company Voice Insight invented a new mobile user interface technology called VQLTM (Voice Query Language). What VQLTM really does is interfacing existing speech engines available from the shelf to existing database content for queries and updates in natural language. It is not a speech engine (recognition nor synthesis), nor is it a database application on its own. It is a middleware enabling automatic voice activation of any existing database application. As such it allows fast deployment of voice-activated applications in any language, supporting any device (telephone, GSM, microphones, PDA (personal data assistants), television, remote controller, etc.), in a server-client or in an embedded architecture. This approach has been internationally patented.

The company has developed solution based on the SDK in different vertical niches: GIS, GPS, Logistics, Maintenance, Security, e-Government.

ROYAL OBSERVATORY of BELGIUM

Researchers at the Royal Observatory of Belgium are active in assorted astronomical fields: astronomy itself, astrophysics, solar physics, and geophysics. Most of the scientific studies conducted at the Institute involve basic research. This is the staple form of research for scientific institutes since it is designed to allow answers to be found to very general cultural questions concerning the origin and evolution of the Universe by compiling knowledge with regard to highly specific astronomical objects.
Other disciplines are associated with more substantive applications: for example, certain studies of the Earth (weather, seismology, tides, continental movements) or the Sun ("space meteorology").
The Institute's activities cover the following areas: Time service / Earth rotation, gravity & tides / Mars / The sun / Minor planets & comets / Stellar evolution / Extra-galactic astronomy.

ROYAL METEOROLOGICAL INSTITUTE

The Royal Meteorological Institute is responsible for scientific research activities and public service tasks in the field of sciences of the atmosphere and meteorological geophysics, hydrology, geomagnetism and magnetohydrodynamics. Meteorology is a continuous study of the phenomena occurring in the Earth's atmosphere. Essentially, it comprises physics, chemistry and dynamics of the atmosphere on a macro-, meso- or micro-scale.

It also studies the direct effects of atmospheric disturbances on the surfaces of the continents and oceans, on electromagnetic and acoustic waves and on certain phenomena of extraterrestrial origin. It attaches particular importance to the current state of the atmosphere and, thanks to, among other things, the systematic archiving of data and the models that it is able to elaborate, constitutes a basis for studies in climatology and hydrology.
